SATURDAY’S SHOW AT FISHBONZ HAS BEEN CANCELLED
My apologies to those who have made plans to attend. We called everyone that we could reach to let them know of the cancellation, but we obviously can’t reach everyone via telephone. Hopefully, we’ll see you Tulsa folks at a show in the near future.
I’m gonna work chronologically backwards this time.
Had a great crowd in Ada last night. Unfortunately, our drummer had a death in the family and wasn’t able to play. As it was too late to cancel, we decided to go down and put on an acoustic show (our friend Jay Wiles joined us). I was a little worried that the crowd would be disappointed since it was fairly crowded and most folks have to stand up at that venue. This usually means that people get bored with an acoustic show since it lacks the same energy. However, everyone stayed out with us and danced. We really appreciate all of you who came out to give us support. You are the best fans. Also, on our way to the club we dropped off some more CDs at Hastings. They were sold out.
Thursday, Will and I went down to the Red Dirt Cafe an met Ty Austin from 93.3 KKNG. He’s a really nice guy and we visited with him and Easton for some time. We were able to do a short interview, and more importantly, they now have our music which they will spin during the “Country with an Edge” format that plays from 6p.m to 1a.m. Give ole Ty a call a request some BBR. It would be a greatly appreciated and would get our name in front of more people. The telephone request line is 405-460-KKNG(5564). You can listen to the broadcast via the internet by visiting their website here. Don’t forget to call any of the other stations that might be located near you. There’s a list on the “links” page of our website.
Last Sunday, I played a benefit show at the Red Dirt Cafe with Camille Harp, Greg Reichel and Jeff Hobbs (alot of acoustic stuff lately for me). My thanks to everyone who came out to help us raise money. I think about $1000 was contributed from the event.
Saturday, we played Classics again in OKC. Had a good crowd, but no cool dancing this time. Kevmo and Chad Dorman were out, and we had them onstage for a few songs. It was great to see those guys. Kevmo actually put us in touch with our current drummer.
Friday at Durant, I’d rather not talk about as a whole. I will say that we had a good show and saw some good friends that I haven’t got to visit with in a while. Here’s the most interesting part of our night. After finishing our first set, this guy (I feel terrible because I have forgotten his name) came up to Will and mentioned that he liked the BBR songs and was wondering if we did many BBR covers. Somewhat bewildered, Will informed him that we were Briar Branch Road. Turns out the guy had our CD in his car but had never seen us in person. Nevertheless, we were flattered that he knew our music; it was frustrating however, that here was a fan who lived in Durant who had no idea we were coming to town and still had no way of knowing we were there once he paid and came inside (the door person gave him the name of some other band when he inquired as to who was playing). A little advertising goes a long way. By the way, if the “guy” happens to read this, my apologies for forgetting your name. You are greatly appreciated, and if you’ll send me an email (dameon {AT} briarbranchroad.com), I’ll make sure you get into our show free next time. Keep spreading the word.
Finally, I wanted to remind everyone that law school finals are rapidly approaching for me and Will. Next weekend we’ll be at the Red Dirt Cafe and then on to Fishbonz. After that, we’ll be studyig for a few weeks. Come out and join us if you can. Hope to see you soon and …
Thanks for Lisnen,
Dameon
