Ada Tonight With Redbud Revival
Howdy Folks! It’s Friday morning, September 23rd. I’ve just got time to drop a quick post. I wanted to let you know that tonight we will be at Ada with special guest Redbud Revival. They’re one of the best bands you’ll see us with, so come out early so that you don’t miss out. They will probably go on around 10:00, and if you need further incentive, there will be free beer from roughly 9-11.
Saturday we’ll be at the Wallstreet Bar in Duncan. My brother is coming out to celebrate his birthday, so come on out and celebrate with us.
Here’s a song I wrote with my friend, Kyle Sweet. I sent him the lyrics and he suggested putting in a bridge. He was right, it needed one. He had some great ideas for lyrics, so we got together and hammered it out.
TRUCKER’S LAMENT
(c) 2005
Allensworth/Sweet
I’m 300 miles and 3 Vicodins
from maybe feeling just okay
I’ve been driving all night
but don’t know where I’ve been
and it’s coiming up on the break of day
I picture her just waking up
with bloodshot eyes, painted lips
crumpled tissues scattered on her bed
lying back in a satin negligee
[chorus]
Nevermind the state I’m in
and yes, I’ve been wandering
but, put yourself at ease good friend
of mine, I’m gonna be just fine
[verse 2]
Black coffee, blue Monday
destinations and miles between
another stretch of empty highway
another lonely thought to think
Man, I wish I was drinking
cause I need that feeling
it’s not about wanting, it’s just about needing
seems like only yesterday
that I was drunk on life and a little bit of whiskey
[chorus]
Nevermind the State I’m in
and yes, I’ve been wondering
so put yourself at ease good friend
of mine, I’m gonna be just fine
[bridge]
Now I’m drifting away on a river
that runs shallow and black
One more run and I’ll be turning back
I’m too damn far from valliant
I’m too damn close to tears
But headlights and daylight
and the thought of her eyes
will get me there….
But I’m 300 miles and 3 Vicodins
from maybe feeling just okay
I’ve been driving all night
but don’t know where I’ve been
Sun’s coming up
on another morning.
Hope to see you this weekend, and as always…
Thanks for Lisnen,
Dameon
